The objective was to design a wordmark that represented the free spirit of the bad-asses who meet out in the water each day while also making sense for a professional restaurant establishment.
In Huntington Beach, California, where surf culture reigns supreme, this client wanted a logo for his restaurant that was befitting of the protective community of talented men and women who call the ocean home.ĭerived from surf lingo, “Maja” meaning mother, is a term of affection often used within this community.
Legend has it some surfers pray for good waves… others just pray for good food!
